What a picture! What a picture! Yes, you guessed it. It was finally the week to learn the choreography for the iconic number ‘Flash, Bang, Wallop!’ As you can see, we’ve been working on our photogenic faces and positions to get that all important group photograph. It turns out that it’s harder than we thought to get the perfect picture! One of our favourite parts of this wonderful song are the stories that run throughout it.

We’re officially half way through our rehearsal run and time is just whizzing by! The challenges of Act Two are well under way and this week especially has had us all sweating bucketfuls. Dancing ‘Pick Out A Simple Tune’ has certainly been exhausting but gosh, it’s a fun number! We’ve all been working hard to isolate random body parts and play with spoons, whilst singing beautifully in harmony. I think we’re doing a grand job so far.

Arthur Kipps, an orphan, is an over-worked draper’s assistant at Shalford’s Bazaar, Folkestone, at the turn of the last century. He is a charming but ordinary young man who, along with his fellow apprentices, dreams of a better and more fulfilling world, but he likes his fun just like any other, except not quite.
I think it’s safe to say that after this week’s rehearsals, we’ve all got ‘Money to Burn – Part Two’ on the brain. This week’s rehearsals were FULL ON – we sang, we danced, we banjoed and the results are looking phenomenal. Luckily, the cast are loving every minute because the energy needed for this number is quite extraordinary. However, we are taking on the challenge with gusto! Who knew that we would all be so good at drinking and dancing in the pub?
Another week has flown by and what a week it was! Exhausting and fun in equal measure, we have been working hard on two of the biggest dance numbers in Act One – ‘Proper Gentlemen’ and ‘Money to Burn – part 2’. The cast have well and truly dusted off their dance shoes and are on top form, pulling out all the stops to produce some impressive partner lifts, banjo dancing and upper class motor driving!
Who doesn’t love a garden party? We certainly do! And that’s been exactly the focus of this week’s rehearsals, piecing together the gorgeous and very classy musical number “If the Rain’s Got to Fall”. The number concludes the end of Act One of ‘Kipps: Half A Sixpence’ at a rather dramatic garden party, leaving Kipps in a bit of an awkward situation. Enthusiasm has been at all time high this week.
Barnstormers are proud to announce that they will be the first theatre group in Brighton to perform Kipps: The new Half a Sixpence musical on the 27th, 28th and 29th February 2020! The introduction night’s for this show will be the 25th and 26th July at Patcham Methodist Church at 7:30pm, please come along if you are interested in joining this amazing show! The busy beavers down at the hall are completing the final tasks and making sure everything is ready for the opening night of Barnstormers Production of Calamity Jane.
