This week we’ve been singing and re-learning the Rent medley which we first performed back in 2014 as part of “Barnstormers Does Broadway”. It’s been really good fun to relive this wonderful medley, and we can’t wait to share it with you during our show run! Tickets will be available very soon, so keep an eye on the website for their launch!

After a weekend of hard work and more trips up and down a scaffold tower than I would have liked, we’ve finished! Amazing work by Gary Robertson, building our new fixed set and now we’ve finished fire proofing the front and painting the ceiling. This was a massive team effort and thank you so much to all those tagged in this post for your help. Rehearsals start next week for our next show and I know how excited everyone is!
We’re thrilled to be launching our next show “Best of Barnstormers” with our cast this week. Our show introduction night will be run online due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. If you’re thinking of joining us for this show, then please do get in touch so we can send you an invitation! The show has everyone’s favourite numbers from past Barnstormers productions, including numbers from Sister Act, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Rent, Anything Goes and many many more.
We have had a few ticket returns from people who have unexpectedly been unable to take up their seats, so there are now just a few tickets available for the Friday Evening and Saturday Matinee performances. Please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. See you there!
Yesterday was a truly wonderful day. We all gathered early in the morning for some bacon sandwiches before starting a full day of work-shopping. It was a great opportunity to polish some of our more fiddly acting scenes, sharpen up our harmonies with an almost complete band and spend some time perfecting our dance moves. In the evening, we put on a full performance, finally combining months of hard work. Seeing the performance in full costume with the band, lights and sound brought the whole show to life.
So it’s only 3 more weeks until show week! How did that happen? This Friday, our costume department worked tirelessly to enable us to rehearse in full costume and the cast looked sensational. There are still some manic costume changes to work out but it was super exciting to get a glimpse of what the show will look like by the end of February. After our first dress rehearsal, I think we’re all inspired to work as hard as we can to produce the best show possible.

A number of our members are admirers of Charlie Stemp, the actor that played the leading role of Arthur Kipps in the West End ‘Half A Sixpence’, since we first watched him perform in Chichester. His birthday seemed the perfect day to celebrate our wonderful cast and crew. It isn’t long to go until we will performing our version of ‘Kipps: Half A Sixpence’and we are so excited! Here is our very own Arthur Kipps hoping to do Charlie Stemp proud.
Our cast have had another hugely successful week. Thursday’s rehearsal turned into a bit of a workout, as we refined the movement for the end of ‘Flash, Bang, Wallop!’ before quickly moving on to the reprise after a few moments of trying to catch our breath in between. It’s an exhausting but hugely exciting end to the show so we’ve all been building up our stamina in preparation for February. It’s already feeling and looking pretty spectacular!
