Titanic – The Musical opened on Broadway in 1997 to widespread acclaim and won all five of its Tony nominations, including those for Best Musical and Best Orchestration. The music and lyrics were written by Maury Yeston and the story by Peter Stone and should not be confused with the film version of the same year.
With its superb music and moving story line, it charts the accounts of those aboard, from the moment they leave Southampton. It explores their dreams, aspirations and relationships, what the journey meant for them, and how their lives and experiences were influenced by the social and class divisions of the time. The script is sensitively written, based on known historical facts, and it provides some unexpected and clever humour, with wonderful characterizations which complement the musical score.
As the show focuses on the characters themselves, it deals with the tragedy in such a way as to evoke emotion more from what is not shown, rather than what is actually portrayed on stage. This is, therefore, a show suitable for all, and one not to be missed.
Come join us, meet Captain Smith, his crew, the Designer, the Owner and the passengers that will make this a show to remember.
